Kappa: Redefining Streetwear & Avant-Garde Femininity

This is the illustration created for the Kappa LABS streetwear campaign.

The core commercial challenge was to break away from Kappa's traditionally male-dominated, hardcore sports image. The brief explicitly asked to avoid conservative, "cute/fresh" (小清新) aesthetics, demanding instead a bold, avant-garde feminine energy. Aligned with the Kappa LABS positioning—which targets an 18-25 demographic with an "oversize street" and "future electronic tribe" vibe—I completely rebuilt the brand's visual language.

Taking full advantage of the open brief, I ditched the standard two-person standoff and built a highly dynamic, diverse ensemble cast. To capture the required "electronic, sci-fi, and music festival" inspiration, I anchored the piece in a high-saturation pink and purple palette. I layered the background with futuristic graphic elements like floating geometric shards, party confetti, and digital ripples. Dressed in oversize silhouettes, retro shades, and statement accessories, the characters' confident poses perfectly translate the unapologetic attitude of the new generation
